SkyView puts a glass-roofed bedroom on the upper floor of a full suite with its own Finnish sauna, a kitchen downstairs and a hot tub steaming on the deck, in forest on Ollerovaara hill outside Rovaniemi. It suits couples and small families who want space and privacy, and its Christmas rates climb steeply.

Which suite should you book?

Two igloo suite types share the same layout: a ground-floor lounge with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, sofa bed and WC, and an upstairs bedroom under a 360-degree glass roof with a private sauna and a hot tub a few steps outside. The King version is larger and has an extra-large bed, with a second WC upstairs in some suites.

The Deluxe room’s one listed extra is the in-room spa bath.

Local tip: The Deluxe room is the cheaper way into the resort, and people book it expecting the same night. It has no glass dome. If lying in bed under the sky is the reason you are coming to Rovaniemi, pay for the suite or stay somewhere else.

Rates are Booking.com prices per night for two adults with breakfast, checked on 15 and 17 October 2026; a single date is a one-night stay. Prices are for the 2026-27 season and change annually, so check current rates for your dates.

The Deluxe room, which has no glass roof, rises to 1,331€ in early December and 2,523€ between Christmas and New Year. A Genius member discount showed on some rates.

Local tip: Christmas week is where the price goes vertical here: the igloo suite costs nearly three times its mid-January rate. The sky is just as dark in January and February, the snow is deeper, and Santa Claus Village is still open. Only the queues change.

What a night includes, and the spa

Every stay includes breakfast at Restaurant Aura, linen and towels, daily cleaning, free parking on site, luggage drop-off and Wi-Fi in the igloo. Check-in is from 16:00, check-out by 12:00. Dinner, transfers and guided trips are extra, and the Safari House on site runs husky, snowmobile, reindeer and aurora tours.

Arctic Spa Culta has a rooftop panoramic sauna, a heated outdoor infinity pool, a hot pool and a cold plunge. On a room-only stay it costs 129€ per person for a two-hour session, sparkling wine and snacks included, with a maximum of 16 guests. The 18:00 and 21:00 sessions are adults only.

Where it is and how to get there in Rovaniemi, Finland

Where it is and how to get there

The resort sits in forest on Ollerovaara, about a 10-minute drive from the centre of Rovaniemi and about 15 minutes from the airport. Santa Claus Village is roughly 16 km away, so a car or taxi, not a walk. Lapland WinterPark is five minutes on foot and a reindeer farm is five minutes away.

There are no rental cars at the resort and no shuttle timetable; private transfers are arranged on request or come with a package. Town restaurants are not within walking distance, which is why the kitchen in the suite and Restaurant Aura matter more here than at a city hotel.

Will you see the aurora from bed?

The igloos face north and sit far enough out that town light does not wash out a faint display, but this is a forest edge above Rovaniemi, not deep wilderness. For a darker sky you go further out. The resort is honest about the rest: a glass roof does nothing under cloud, and nothing is guaranteed. Check the Finnish Meteorological Institute aurora forecast before you give up for the night.

A young resort still growing in Rovaniemi, Finland

A young resort still growing

SkyView is new. The official pages promised 32 premium igloos by winter 2026 while listing sites quote higher counts, so the place is still being built out. Restaurant Aura and the spa both opened in October 2026, and the guest reviews date from spring 2026 onwards: scores are near perfect but the sample is small. The suites have no fireplace and no washing machine, and pets are decided case by case.

Compare the alternatives named above

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

It suits couples and families of up to four who want the full private set, a glass roof with their own sauna, hot tub and real kitchen, close enough to town to drive in for the day. It also works for small groups, as the whole resort can be booked.

Look elsewhere if you want to walk to Santa Claus Village, if you want the darkest possible sky, if you want activities and gear included in the room rate, or if you simply want a cheaper night under glass.

The nearby alternatives in Rovaniemi, Finland

The nearby alternatives

Halo Igloos, about 18 km north, also gives every igloo a sauna and hot tub in a darker setting. Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle puts you inside Santa Claus Village on foot. Arctic TreeHouse has glass-fronted suites near the airport, and Apukka is a lakeside activity resort where breakfast and outdoor gear come with the stay.

How far ahead to book

September, October and late March are the cheapest dates. Book main-season nights more than 60 days ahead and cancellation is free; inside 60 days you pay half, and inside 30 days the full rate. Anything from 1 December to 6 January is non-refundable and cannot be changed, so settle those dates before you pay.

How I researched this in Rovaniemi, Finland

How I researched this

Facts come from skyviewigloos.com in October 2026, with Visit Rovaniemi and Visit Finland listings for suite sizes, and rates read on Booking.com on 15 October 2026. Nobody from Lapland Trip Planner has stayed here; the verdict is a researched comparison, not a review.

Common questions

Can you use the spa without staying at the resort?

Yes. Arctic Spa Culta sells two-hour sessions to non-guests, booked online, at 129€ per person with sparkling wine and Nordic snacks. Sessions run through the day, with the 18:00 and 21:00 slots reserved for adults.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, the suites sleep up to four and the resort sells family packages. The evening and midnight spa sessions are adults only, so plan the spa for a daytime slot if you are travelling with kids.

Do you need a car?

Not strictly, but without one you depend on taxis or arranged transfers for town and Santa Claus Village. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance, so a car-free stay means Restaurant Aura or cooking in the suite.

Best Booking Resources for Lapland

These are the booking tools I keep coming back to. They consistently offer the best prices, the most relevant options for northern Finland, and actually work well for Lapland-specific searches, which not all platforms do.

  • Kiwi.com: The best source for finding flights and airport connections. I have noticed they find flight connections that other search engines miss.
  • Booking.com: I almost always use them for booking hotels and apartments (and occasionally flights). They have the best filters and I like the user-friendly interface.
  • Hotels.com: The most popular hotel booking platform in many countries, US included.
  • Get Your Guide: A massive selection of tours and excursions, including aurora tours, husky rides, reindeer experiences and more!
  • EconomyBookings: Want to explore Lapland or chase auroras yourself? They pool together the best offers from car rental operators for your convenience.
  • yesim: Need a local SIM for Lapland? A stress-free holiday nowadays (unfortunately) might start from a good connection, so get an eSIM with unlimited or prepaid data.
  • Ekta Traveling: Not interested in checking out the Finnish public health care system on your holiday? Didn’t think so 🙂 Good insurance gets that stress out of the way.
