Lapland Winter Park Rovaniemi: Tickets, Shuttle and What Is Included

Lapland Winter Park fills a forested hill outside Rovaniemi with a long sledding run, skating, ski and snowshoe trails, reindeer to feed and kota huts (open-fire log huts) to warm up in, all on one day ticket. It suits families who want a whole day outdoors in one place; couples after aurora and glass roofs will get less from it.
A day ticket is 69€ for adults and 39€ for children aged 3 to 11, or 189€ for two adults and up to three children, with sleds, skates, skis and snowshoes included. Anything with an engine or a sauna in it costs extra.
The park sits 10 km out of Rovaniemi, in thirteen hectares of forest at Olleronvaara in Nivankylä village, roughly 10 to 15 minutes by car and then about 1.5 km of forest road. It opened in December 2024, so winter 2026-27 is its third season rather than a launch, whatever the “1 December” dates on other sites imply. A free shuttle runs from the city centre and from Santa Claus Village.
What the area ticket covers
The area ticket is a day pass, valid through opening hours, and the park describes it as seven hours. You register at reception on arrival. Equipment for the self-service activities is included, which is the main reason the ticket makes sense for families: skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing would each be a separate rental elsewhere.
| Included in the area ticket | Costs extra |
|---|---|
| Long sledding hill with sleds | Ice karting |
| Ice skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing with equipment | Rovaniemi Sauna World |
| Reindeer meet and greet, with a snack to feed them | Reindeer sleigh ride (500 m) |
| Five heated kota huts with fireplaces | Children’s mini snowmobiles |
| Christmassy forest with a small elf hunt, carousel sled | Husky sleigh ride, snowmobile tours |
| Hot chocolate for children | All meals |
No clothing is included. Bring a padded jacket and trousers, gloves, hat and proper winter boots, or arrange thermal rental before you arrive. Area tickets are non-refundable and the park states that all sales are final, so don’t buy a date you might move.
What the extras cost
These are the park’s listed “from” prices as of September 2026. Ice karting, the mini snowmobiles and Sauna World can all be booked without an area ticket, which is useful if you only want the sauna complex. The husky ride is the one thing here with free cancellation, up to 24 hours before.
| Extra | From | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Ice karting | 69€ | 30 minutes driving after safety briefing, helmet included; minimum height 150 cm, maximum weight 100 kg |
| Rovaniemi Sauna World | 65€ | 1.5-hour session; bathrobe, towel, slippers, toiletries and water included |
| Husky sleigh ride (Arctic Paws) | 59€ | 2 km guide-driven ride, usually 2 to 4 guests per sled; Thursday to Sunday, 11:00 to 18:00 |
| Mini snowmobile | 35€ | Children 115 to 160 cm who can drive alone; 15 minutes on a supervised circuit |
| Hawu lunch buffet | 32€ | Served 11:00 to 15:00; children’s menu separate; open to non-ticket holders |
| Snowmobile tours | 99€ | One-hour Frozen Trails ride; the Northern Lights ride is from 149€ |
A reindeer sleigh ride is sold too. Prices are for the 2026-27 season and change annually, so check operator websites for current rates.
Season and opening hours 2026-27
The activity park runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027. The accommodation season is longer, from 1 November to late March, which is why the site stays busy before the park itself opens.
| What | 2026-27 dates | Daily hours |
|---|---|---|
| Activity park | 1 Dec 2026 to 31 Mar 2027 | 11:00 to 18:00 |
| Rovaniemi Sauna World | From 15 Nov 2026 | About noon to 7 pm; check the booking calendar |
| Hawu restaurant | Daily, including November | 08:30 to 22:00 |
| Reindeer experiences | Park season | 11:00 to 17:00, no pre-booking |
| Chalets and villas | 1 Nov 2026 to late March | — |
In November the activity park is shut. The restaurant is open daily, Sauna World starts on 15 November, and partner tours run with hotel pick-up. If snow arrives early some activities may run, but the park is honest that this cannot be known in advance. The park operates in all weather, and says individual activities may change or be cancelled in extreme conditions. Huskies, snowmobiles, ice karting and mini snowmobiles all run at set times listed on their own pages, so build the day around those rather than turning up and hoping.
Getting there: the free shuttle
There is no public transport to the park. Your options are the free shuttle, your own car or a taxi to Olleronvaarantie 160. Parking on site is free. Accommodation guests can request a private minibus for up to seven people, priced on request.
The shuttle runs 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027 and does not run in November. It has 49 seats, first come first served, and seats cannot be reserved. The city-centre stop is Korkalonkatu 26, next to Pub Pisto, about 15 minutes from the park. The other stop is the north-end bus park at Santa Claus Village, about 20 minutes away.
| Direction | Departures |
|---|---|
| City centre to park | 10:30, 12:00, 13:30, 15:00, 17:10, plus 18:30 and 20:40 marked drop off only |
| Santa Claus Village to park | 10:50, 12:20, 13:50, 15:20, 17:30, plus 18:50 and 21:00 marked drop off only |
| Park back to town | 11:30, 13:00, 14:30, 16:40, 18:00, 20:15 |
Rovaniemi Sauna World
This is the park’s sauna complex, sold as a 1.5-hour session at 65€ including bathrobe, towel, slippers, toiletries and a bottle of water. The saunas are unisex and you wear swimwear, with separate changing rooms. Bring your own swimsuit or rent one there.
The park’s own page contradicts itself on the count, listing somewhere between eight and ten saunas along with jacuzzis, a wood-fired hot tub and ice-dipping pools, so treat the exact figures as approximate. The newest sauna is called Uitto, themed on Lapland’s log-floating history. You can book the sauna without an area ticket, which makes it a reasonable standalone evening if the children are asleep and one adult stays back. Sessions are non-refundable.
Staying at the park
Chalets start from 349€ a night for the whole unit: 29.5 m2, up to four guests on a double or twin plus a 140 cm sofa bed, shower room, forest view, kettle and free WiFi, with a baby cot on request. Villas start from 899€ a night: 50 m2, up to six guests, two bedrooms with a skylight in one, kitchenette, two toilets, a private sauna and a terrace with an outdoor jacuzzi (park site, September 2026).
Staying on site solves the shuttle problem entirely and gets you the 10% activity discount. Against that, you are 10 km from restaurants, shops and the rest of Rovaniemi, and you’ll be driving or taxiing every time you want to see the city itself. A wood-heated mobile sauna can be brought to a chalet yard for two hours if booked three days ahead.
How it compares with the other Rovaniemi winter parks
Rovaniemi now has four separate winter parks and people mix them up constantly. Lapland Winter Park is not Arctic Fantasy Park on Jäämerentie, and it is not the SnowGlow pop-up at the football stadium. Different operators, different sites.
| Park | Where | 2026-27 season | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lapland Winter Park | Forest, 10 km out | 1 Dec to 31 Mar | 69€ adult, 39€ child, 189€ family |
| Snowman World | Inside Santa Claus Village | 6 Dec to 17 Mar | 35€ all-day wristband, under 2 free |
| SantaPark | Underground, near Santa Claus Village | 31 Oct to 23 Jan | From 42€ adult, 37€ child 3 to 12 |
| SnowGlow Winterpark | City-centre football stadium | 18 Nov to 7 Mar | 29€ general admission |
| Arctic Fantasy Park | Jäämerentie 9 | Opens 30 Nov | Not published |
Lapland Winter Park is the expensive one because it is a full day with equipment included rather than an hour or two inside a Christmas story.
Who should go, who should skip it
Go if you have children between roughly four and twelve, you want one long outdoor day instead of three separate bookings, and the idea of sledding, skating and a reindeer snack in the same afternoon sounds like a good use of 189€. Go too if you want the sauna complex, which stands on its own.
Skip it if your trip is short and Santa Claus Village is the priority, because the park eats a whole day and the shuttle ties you to fixed times. Skip it if you want a single hour of activity, since 69€ for an adult is poor value for a short visit. Skip it if you need full accessibility: the park describes itself as partially accessible, with a barrier-free lounge, toilets and some forest paths, which is not the same as pushchair-friendly throughout. And if you are travelling as a couple hunting aurora, your money goes further on a wilderness night away from town lights than on a family activity park.
How I researched this
Facts here come from the park’s own website and booking calendar, the partner reseller StayLapland, Visit Rovaniemi, Yle Lappi’s September 2025 report and the Finnish company register summary, all checked on 30 September 2026. Comparison facts for the other Rovaniemi parks come from their operators’ sites, August and September 2026. Nobody from Lapland Trip Planner has visited the park; this is a researched guide, not a review.
Best Booking Resources for Lapland
These are the booking tools I keep coming back to. They consistently offer the best prices, the most relevant options for northern Finland, and actually work well for Lapland-specific searches, which not all platforms do.
- Kiwi.com: The best source for finding flights and airport connections. I have noticed they find flight connections that other search engines miss.
- Booking.com: I almost always use them for booking hotels and apartments (and occasionally flights). They have the best filters and I like the user-friendly interface.
- Hotels.com: The most popular hotel booking platform in many countries, US included.
- Get Your Guide: A massive selection of tours and excursions, including aurora tours, husky rides, reindeer experiences and more!
- EconomyBookings: Want to explore Lapland or chase auroras yourself? They pool together the best offers from car rental operators for your convenience.
- yesim: Need a local SIM for Lapland? A stress-free holiday nowadays (unfortunately) might start from a good connection, so get an eSIM with unlimited or prepaid data.
- Ekta Traveling: Not interested in checking out the Finnish public health care system on your holiday? Didn’t think so 🙂 Good insurance gets that stress out of the way.
